Nova Flooring Services' staff has the creativity, craftsmanship and experience to guide you from material selection, to proper layout, to expert fabrication. The owners of NFS are “hands-on” with every project to make sure all aspects go smoothly. Our passion for creating the best custom area rugs and runners has many times led us to be inventive. As you can see in our Photo Gallery, we are far from ordinary.
The process starts with contacting us. If you have your own ideas, or even a partial idea, we will be happy to speak with you and suggest what carpet materials, design and style may look best - while keeping your budget in mind. Depending upon your rug project, we can create a scaled drawing and/or “strike-off” corner sample of the rug for visual aid.
Although NFS can provide the materials necessary to create a custom area rug, many of our customers will select materials at their local flooring showroom - then drop-ship to Nova Flooring Services to have their rug customized. The finished rug is then shipped upon completion.
Nova Flooring Services carries several high quality brands of broadloom carpet, bindings, leather, fabrics, etc. These material options can be discussed during our initial consultation, and we can recommend options for your project. We also accept material provided by the customer, which can be drop-shipped directly to our warehouse.
We not only provide logo rugs and mats for businesses, but for personal use as well. Commercial buildings, hospitals, government offices, schools, museums, country clubs, churches and athletic facilities are just a few examples of commercial projects. On the personal side, we have provided countless customers with inlaid & logo rugs for game rooms, media rooms and trophy rooms. The options are fairly limitless in creating the perfect rug, logo, or commercial mat.
Yes, most any upholstery grade fabric or leather can be supplied to create an area rug border. If you choose to supply the border fabric, we can assist you in determining the correct amount to provide and then send to our workshop.
Staying within your budget is a primary concern. However, prices can only be determined upon review of your specific project. Material costs vary widely depending upon fiber content and quality. Labor costs also vary greatly depending upon the overall size of your project and how much custom fabrication is required. Please feel free to Contact Us to discuss.
Although we primarily service the Chicago area, we will also service customers in northern Indiana, southern Wisconsin and western Michigan. In exceptional cases, we do travel throughout the U.S. to layout and install stair runner projects.
Generally the process from when your order is placed until it ships is 1 -3 weeks depending upon the complexity of the fabrication process.
We can ship rugs & runners anywhere in the country. However, there are a few limitations on residential deliveries. A rug larger than 8’-0” long may need to ship to a commercial address. If you need help finding someone in your area to receive and deliver a rug, please ask us for assistance.

Having the correct sized pad is important, so we can provide you the pad that works best with your rug and cut it to fit perfectly. Different applications of rugs lend themselves to different types of pads or rug backings. If you are unsure of which pad is best for you, please contact us and we would be happy to offer guidance.
The maximum width of a rug without a seam varies between 12’ to 15’ depending upon the material you select. In some cases, because of the material selection the seam may be slightly visible. Often times we are able to place the seam where it is the least noticeable, based on the light source & furniture layout - which can be discussed with you prior to fabrication to ensure the best result.
We strongly encourage all of our customers to sample as many materials as they need to be sure of what they are getting. Since these rugs are cut to order and put together by hand, we do not accept refunds, returns or exchanges.
